Exhibition "Bicentenary of the birth of Carlo Lorenzini, Pinocchio's creator, at CRAI campus Catalunya

Tarragona Catalunya Campus CRAI campus Catalunya

08:00 h

On the occasion of the bicentenary of the birth of Pinocchio's creator, the Florentine Carlo Lorenzini-better known as Carlo Collodi-students of Children's Literature from the Early Childhood Education degree programme at the Baix Penedès campus have organised a small exhibition featuring a star guest: one of the rare Pinocchios crafted at the former Bartolucci workshop in Rome.

The exhibition commemorates this anniversary by highlighting the Catalan editions that have allowed readers throughout the Catalan-speaking regions to enjoy the adventures of the world's most universal puppet. The first two were the outstanding translation by Maria Sandiumenge, illustrated by Josep Vinyals and published by Joventut in 1934, and the version translated by Albert Jané and illustrated by Fina Rifa, published by La Galera in 1982.

Visitors of all ages can meet Pinocchio in person and, if they wish, take photographs with him to share on social media, helping to spread the magic of Pinocchio around the world.

Pinocchio by Bartolucci can now be visited, accompanied by puppets and books, at the CRAI campus Catalunya in Tarragona.

This lively exhibition is designed to travel. After closing at the CRAI campus Catalunya on 17 April, it will move on to the CRAI seu Baix Penedès in Coma-ruga, and later dates will see it continue its journey to the CRAI campus Sescelades.
