On the occasion of Library Day (October 24), CRAI has prepared a virtual center of interest where you can discover:
This year's motto, "Without professionals, there are no libraries," aims to highlight the people who make libraries so much more than just a collection of resources, shelves, and spaces.
Libraries, as democratic institutions, are an essential service for citizens, who seek in them a place to meet, exchange opinions, and share knowledge. But behind every loan, every inquiry, every activity, every recommendation, and every project are professionals working to guarantee access to culture, support their communities, and make libraries open, inclusive, and accessible spaces for everyone.
Recognizing and giving visibility to those who perform this often-invisible work is fundamental to understanding the true value of libraries. Because a library is not only what we see when we enter it: it is also the work of the people who select and organize its collections, preserve its heritage, facilitate access to information, promote reading, support learning, and create activities and services to meet the needs of its users.
