An exhibition that invites you to discover this manifestation of popular culture through a critical look that highlights the gender representations, power relations and decolonial perspectives that are present in it.
The exhibition has been created by Ònia Amenós, Pau Cabré and Laia Ventura, under the supervision of Francesc Massip, and takes a journey through the history, origins and evolution of spoken dances, addressing aspects such as the spectacle, women and the festival, the figure of the festive devil, verses in the street and in the town, as well as the stages of rise and decline of these popular manifestations. In addition, it includes a bibliographical exhibition dedicated to spoken dances and the different festive elements that are part of them.
The exhibition was inaugurated on 24 September at 6 pm and can be visited at the CRAI campus Catalunya until 9 October.
This initiative is part of the III International Congress of Spoken Dances. Spoken dances from a gender and decolonial perspective, which brings together specialists and researchers to reflect on these manifestations of popular culture.
