Tarragona Catalunya Campus

09:00 h

The Universitat Rovira i Virgili presents the exhibition Open Access and Publications. Books, Magazines and Digitized Collections of the URV, as part of the International Open Access Week. The exhibition, located in the lobby of the CRAI on the Catalunya campus in Tarragona, can be visited from 13 to 31 October and highlights the URV's commitment to the dissemination of knowledge, historical memory and open access.

The exhibition presents more than 500 monographs and several academic journals available in open access through the portals llibres.urv.cat and revistes.urv.cat. Three works stand out: "The Last Days of Republican Catalonia" by Antoni Rovira i Virgili, "A Story of Women in Struggle" by Ángeles de la Fuente, and "Surviving Franco's Prisons" by Rosa Vilaró.

Also on display are several digitized documentary collections, such as the Antoni Rovira i Virgili Collection, with historical, political, and literary texts published between 1905 and 1939; the Operatic Book Collection, with 219 opera librettos performed in Barcelona between 1820 and 1900; the Daniel Vilaró Collection, with nearly 300 letters written from Francoist prisons between 1939 and 1943; and the Valmeline Fund, which documents the women's labor struggle between 1961 and 1980.

The contents are also available in the institutional repository repositori.urv.cat and on platforms such as DOAB, Europeana and Internet Archive. The exhibition celebrates the 30/20 anniversary of the Language and Publication Service and shows the processes that make open access possible: digitization, cataloguing, preservation and dissemination. The URV thus reaffirms its commitment to open, inclusive and accessible science. As Rovira i Virgili said, culture is "freedom made a habit", and this exhibition is living proof of this.
