OpenData Day at the Catalan Institute for Chemical Research (ICIQ)
Catalan Institute for Chemical Research (ICIQ)
Last Thursday, May 11, the "OpenData Day" Conference was held at the Catalan Institute for Chemical Research (ICIQ), which was attended by staff from the CRAI of the URV.
In the morning session, there were presentations by Roger Cabezas from Research Centers of Catalonia (CERCA), Lluís Anglada and Núria Raga from the Consortium of University Services of Catalonia (CSUC), Carles Bo, Moisés Álvarez and Aleix Mariné from ICIQ and Mercè Crosas from the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC).
The presentations highlighted the importance of research data management, and that this management is more than just an open access data repository. The need to adopt policies aligned with open science for the publication of data and to make tools and infrastructure available to the scientific community to manage and deposit open access data was also highlighted. Finally, it also became evident that it is necessary to train research staff in the curation of research data and the importance that they comply with the FAIR principles.
The afternoon session was addressed to the members of ICIQ, and the different software they are using in the institution and their own procedures on data digitization and export were made known (for example, from e-notebooks to CORA.RDR ).
