Exhibition " Plastic Dystopias" Catalunya campus CRAI

From to

Catalunya Campus CRAI

The Catalunya campus CRAI, resumes the activity of the Art Classroom, after two years of inactivity due to the pandemic, hosting the exhibition "Plastic Dystopias", by the artist and environmental activist Jordi Llort-Figuerola. This, through plastic waste that cannot be recycled and that the sea has deposited on the beaches of Tarragona, has made a work that exposes the contamination of our coastline.

The sample is structured in four areas. One of them, called The Time Capsule, contains small recovered objects, petrified in resin molds, and impregnated with ultraviolet pigments that glow in the dark. They are archaeological remains of contemporary life.

Another part of the work is made up of the section called Human Petroleum. It is a mobile sculpture of a human-shaped puppet, made with melted plastic pellets.

Also noteworthy is the reinterpretation of The tapestry de Tarragona, by Joan Miró and Josep Royo.

You will meet Jordi Llort-Figuerola's alter ego: Plastic Hunter. It is about a superhero who hunts litter from the coast, leaving evidence of it with a sample of suits.

Finally, you will discover the tools that the artist uses and the notebook where he documents the findings and outlines his future works.

You can enjoy visiting it in the hall of the CRAI campus Catalunya.

Exhibition “Sachsenhausen concentration camp. Propaganda, manipulation and confrontation of narratives" at Catalunya Campus CRAI

From to

Catalunya Campus CRAI

The exhibition "The concentration camp of Sachsenhausen. Propaganda, manipulation and confrontation of narratives", takes us back in history and in time to get closer to the reality that was built in the Nazi concentration camp of Sachsenhausen, located from 1936 to 1950 in the north of Berlin, in the city of Oranienburg (now the federal state of Brandenburg). And, focusing from its origins to the year 1945, it shows on the different testimonies that victims and perpetrators have left us. On the one hand the Nazis, with their propaganda photographs. On the other, we will see the version of those who were prisoners through drawings and memories of lived experiences.

The exhibition, made up of 10 roll-ups, aims to foster a critical spirit, raise awareness of the dangers of manipulation, fascism and Nazism. It also aims to somehow dignify the memory of the victims by recovering the experiences of those who were imprisoned.

The opening is scheduled for February 7, at 11am. It can be visited, in the hall of the CRAI campus Catalunya, from then until February 25. Subsequently, it will be exhibited in the various campus CRAIs that the university has throughout the territory, carrying out an itinerary that can be followed through the CRAI Agend.

Center of interest “International Day of Women and Girls in Science” at URV CRAI

From to

URV CRAI

The URV CRAI is collaborating in the commemoration of the "International Day of Women and Girls in Science" through the exhibition of various centers of interest at its headquarters.

In them you will find a bibliographic selection dedicated to vindicating the female figure in a scientific world, traditionally male, and where the contributions of women have become too invisible for too long.

In recognition of her work and in the spirit of fostering scientific concern and vocation in women, we invite you not only to enjoy reading, but also to participate in the activities organized throughout the week: debates, round tables, meetings with women scientists, etc.
